Our Fees

At MustCare Vet Centres, we believe in maintaining transparency and openness when discussing our fees. We recognise that the cost of living is high, and although our services reflect the quality of care we provide, we’re always committed to working within your budget to ensure your pet receives excellent care.

We provide an estimate range for our services and will keep you updated if there are any changes. Some treatments, such as dental procedures, can be done in stages to help reduce the upfront cost.

We practice a spectrum of care, also known as contextualised care. This means we will always offer the best possible treatment options and discuss the diagnostic and treatment plan with you, so you can make an informed decision about what is feasible for you. We explain the pros and cons of each option, ensuring you understand the decisions you make about your pet’s health.

Our goal is to work with you to provide the best care for your pet within your means, keeping their health and your financial situation in mind.

Follow-up Consultations

For follow-up consultations, our aim is to address ongoing concerns and prevent recurrence through proactive strategies.

We take personal responsibility for your pet’s health and recovery. During revisits, we reassess your pet’s health by repeating a full physical exam, focusing on the primary condition to ensure it has resolved. If needed, we adjust our approach or treatment plan to achieve the best outcome.

For conditions like infections, we recheck and reswab to confirm the treatment’s success, even if your pet seems better at home. This step is crucial because symptoms can appear improved early on, but the underlying issue may still need monitoring. By comparing results—like microscope images or assessments from Day 1 to today—we show you clear progress and the value of continued care.

We are committed to getting to the bottom of each problem and, when needed, providing a long-term maintenance plan to keep disease under control and ensure your pet stays as healthy and comfortable as possible.

Finally, we’ll send you home with the knowledge and tools you need to help you maintain your pet’s health at home for their long term wellbeing.

Our follow-up consultations are designed to provide continuous value, ensuring your pet remains happy and healthy.

The follow-up consultation fee is $75.

Emergency Consultations

Our priority is to provide swift and effective care to ensure your pet’s safety and comfort.

We quickly assess and stabilise your pet to address any urgent medical needs.

Our team is equipped to provide immediate, compassionate care with loving hands and soft bedding to ensure your pet feels safe and comfortable. We offer pain relief, oxygen therapy, and initial diagnostics, such as blood tests, to manage your pet’s condition effectively. If further diagnostics are needed, like ultrasound imaging, these are usually offered early in care (not currently available at our Mt Gravatt Vet Centre – but we hope to offer this service shortly!).

We ensure your pet has priority access to life-saving diagnostics and treatments.

In cases where we are fully booked, rest assured that your pet will be admitted for urgent care as required or referred to the appropriate emergency or specialist facility.

We see ourselves as your pet’s triage and initial first aid support, ensuring they receive the necessary care promptly. Our approach allows us to provide immediate relief and determine the best course of action, whether that means continuing care here or referring to a specialised facility.

The emergency consultation fee is $135-$145.

For emergencies outside our opening hours, please contact Animal Emergency Service.

Vaccination Consultations

For our vaccination consultations at MustCare Vets, we provide a comprehensive service to ensure your pet’s ongoing health and protection.

Our 5-point health care check provides a focused assessment of your pet’s well-being. We start by evaluating their physical condition, including weight and muscle tone. Vital signs like heart rate, respiratory rate, and temperature are monitored to ensure they are within healthy ranges.

We inspect the skin and coat for parasites or allergies and take a close look at oral health to spot any dental issues. Finally, we check the ears and eyes for signs of infection or other concerns, ensuring your pet remains healthy and happy. This streamlined check-up is perfect for maintaining regular health monitoring and catching potential issues early.

Our 12-point comprehensive check-up is designed to give your pet a thorough health assessment from nose to tail. We ensure their weight and body condition are on track, while also conducting a detailed examination of their dental health, eyes, and ears.

Our team checks the skin and coat for any signs of parasites or infections, and listens to the heart and lungs for irregularities. We assess joint mobility, conduct an abdominal palpation for any lumps, review vaccination records, and discuss necessary parasite prevention. If needed, we also perform laboratory tests to catch any underlying health issues early. This comprehensive approach helps keep your beloved pet in top condition and addresses any concerns promptly.

Once we’ve assessed your pet for a vaccination, we move onto administering vaccines that are specifically tailored to your pet’s schedule, including the 3-yearly DHP and annual BB & P2i vaccinations. Our team ensures that your pet’s vaccination records are meticulously updated, giving you peace of mind knowing that their health care needs are well managed and documented.

We offer comprehensive advice on maintaining your pet’s vaccination schedule to ensure their continued health. Our valued service includes setting reminders for upcoming vaccinations and parasite control treatments purchased through our clinic. Additionally, we provide the application of preventatives at no extra cost, subject to availability and resource capacity, helping you keep your pet protected and healthy with ease.

Our vaccination consultations are designed to deliver comprehensive care and peace of mind, ensuring your pet stays protected and healthy.

The vaccination consultation fee is $120-$135.

Dental Cleaning

We provide a comprehensive approach to dental care to ensure your pet’s oral health is maintained at its best.

We conduct a thorough health check to ensure your pet is a suitable candidate for the procedure. This includes guiding you through any concerns you may have.

Your pet is carefully monitored under general anaesthesia for a safe and comfortable experience. Thanks to advancements in veterinary medicine, anaesthesia is now safer than ever. According to recent studies, the risk of anaesthetic complications in healthy pets is less than 0.1% for dogs and cats. Our expert team uses state-of-the-art monitoring equipment and procedures (the same used in human dental!) to ensure your pet’s safety and comfort throughout the process.

Our professional dental services include cleaning and scaling to effectively remove plaque and tartar build-up, significantly enhancing your pet’s oral hygiene. We finish with a polishing of your pet’s teeth to smooth the enamel and help prevent future plaque accumulation. To ensure your pet’s comfort, we provide pain relief medication post-procedure. For added peace of mind, we conduct a follow-up check on day 3 if no extractions were performed, ensuring your pet’s dental health is maintained and monitored.

For pets requiring extractions, we provide an additional 10-day check focusing on their healing and recovery to ensure everything is progressing well. Our final post-op check emphasises the importance of maintaining home dental care to prevent future issues. We also offer personalised tips and advice to help you effectively manage your pet’s dental health at home, ensuring long-lasting oral wellness.

Dental health checks are free. During these health checks, our experienced team will assess your pet’s dental health and provide a comprehensive quote for any recommended treatments.

We also aim to capture photos of your pet’s mouth to visually demonstrate any issues and help you understand their dental needs.

Each pet’s dental care is unique, influenced by factors such as tartar buildup, gum health, and potential extractions, making it challenging to offer a one-size-fits-all price. Our tailored approach ensures your pet receives the specific care they need for a healthy, happy smile. Schedule your pet’s free dental check today!

Fees FAQ

Veterinary fees vary based on the type and complexity of the service provided. Factors such as the pet’s size, age, and health condition can also influence the cost. We will provide a clear estimate before any procedure to avoid surprises and alert you to any variations in the price as they arise.

Absolutely. We encourage you to contact us for a detailed estimate based on your pet’s specific needs. Some conditions, like dental disease, can be difficult to estimate without physically examining your pet. Even then, a complete assessment often requires dental X-rays under general anaesthetic for full accuracy. Our team is happy to discuss the costs and provide a breakdown of services.

We understand that unexpected veterinary bills can be challenging. That’s why we offer flexible payment options through VetPay, ZipPay, and Afterpay. Please speak to our reception team to learn more about these options, or see here for how to apply.

While we charge a flat fee for emergency consultations, due to the immediate and urgent nature of the care provided there may be additional costs. Our veterinarians will discuss these with you at the time of booking. Please contact us for more details.

We often bundle procedures together under one general anaesthesia when safe and appropriate for your pet’s health, saving both time and money for our clients. While we do not offer discounts, we prioritise providing transparent and fair pricing for the exceptional care your pet deserves.

Yes, we accept pet insurance. We focus on minimising your out-of-pocket expenses by applying any available gap payments, and we can provide you with the necessary documentation to submit a claim to your insurance provider.
