Ingredients

  • 1 cup of cooked and mashed sweet potatoes
  • 1/2 cup of cooked and mashed pumpkin
  • 1/4 cup of unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup of plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup of peanut butter (make sure it does not contain xylitol)
  • 1/4 cup of coconut flour
  • 1/4 cup of rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup of shredded carrots
  • 1/4 cup of chopped parsley

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed sweet potatoes, pumpkin, applesauce, Greek yogurt, and peanut butter. Mix well until all the ingredients are fully incorporated.
  3. Gradually add the coconut flour and rolled oats to the mixture, stirring continuously. The dough should start to come together and become less sticky.
  4. Fold in the shredded carrots and chopped parsley, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  5. Lightly flour a clean surface and roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1/4 inch. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes or simply use a knife to create small squares or rectangles.
  6. Place the treats onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a small gap between each one.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the treats are golden brown and firm to the touch.
  8. Remove from the oven and allow the treats to cool completely before serving them to your pet.

These homemade holiday treats are not only delicious but also safe for your pet to enjoy. The sweet potatoes and pumpkin provide a healthy dose of vitamins and fiber, while the applesauce adds natural sweetness. The Greek yogurt and peanut butter offer a creamy texture and a good source of protein. The coconut flour and rolled oats give the treats a satisfying crunch, and the shredded carrots and parsley add a touch of freshness.

Remember, moderation is key when it comes to treating your pet. These homemade treats should be given as an occasional indulgence and should not replace a balanced diet. Always consult with your veterinarian before introducing new foods to your pet’s diet, especially if they have any specific dietary restrictions or health conditions.

So go ahead and spoil your pet this holiday season with these safe and delicious homemade treats. They’ll be wagging their tail in delight and thanking you for the extra love and care. Happy holidays to you and your furry friend!
